Being a stammerer has been a major challenge to my Music Career but I conquer it.
And it’s even tougher when an individual is gifted in something that makes others expect him to talk, address, and solve vocal issues."
That was me, I’m a music minister, A drummer (Drum tutor)Music, Director as well as Leader in Kyk Group.
And yet sometimes I wonder, 'How am I even talking through with people around me?' 😅
Here’s the honest truth: Most of the drum-beats I create come straight from my stammering pattern. That pause... that repeat. that rhythm. God literally turned what I thought was a weakness into my sound.
And when I’m called to minister, this is what happens: I mount the stage, then in my head I rehearse and time the words more than 5 times. Line it up. Play it back.
And most times, the words still won’t come.
So I do the only thing I know, that is jumping straight into singing, Because the song carries what my mouth can’t.
Before, I used to run away from crowds, Parliament? Yes, Any gathering of 3 to 5 people, I use avoid it. I didn’t want to be a laughing stock.
Until one day I asked myself, 'For how long will I keep isolating myself? Is it a sin to be a stammerer? That question broke me free.
Today, I teach in secondary schools, tertiary institutions, i teach local kyk drums and i also teach songs. And I can’t even categorically explain how I’m doing all of it.
All I know is: God didn’t wait for me to have perfect speech before He used me. He used my worship.
1 John 3:18 says “Love in action, not in words.” Maybe that’s my whole life, my life preaches what my lips struggle to say. So if you’re reading this and you feel 'not enough' because of how you talk, how you look, or what you lack, Don’t hide, Don’t isolate.
God specializes in cracked vessels. He turns stammers into rhythm, and silence into songs. Your voice matters, Even the shaky one. Keep showing up. He’s not done with you.
Today I'm amazed at how far and fast He's taking me in music ministry. I still stumbled in words, but I don't stumble on Worship.
Glory to Master Jesus, Amb. Y.collins Hassan Santana Jr remains grateful to God🙏
